Lisa is the author of five collections of essays, including most recently, What the River Carries: Encounters with the Mississippi, Missouri, and Platte (University of Missouri Press 2012). Her essays have appeared in numerous literary journals, including Shenandoah, Gettysburg Review, Missouri Review,Michigan Quarterly Review, and Creative Nonfiction. Six of her essays have received “notable essay” citations in Best American Essays series. Knopp is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where she teaches courses in creative nonfiction.
